TfNSW selects LSM TyreGuard® TMSystems to mitigate Bus / Coach Tyre- Wheel Fires

LSM Technologies have been selected by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to provide our LSM TyreGuard® TMSystem Technologies according to their Standard - BC17/18562 on Buses.

Approximately 2,500 Buses were installed as part of the with our TyreGuard® TMSystems in the first large roll- out of our technology to mitigation of Bus (Coach) Fires related to Tyre and Wheel Well (Locked Brakes / incorrect Tyre Pressurisation, failed Wheel Bearings) incidents.

LSM Technologies are proud to have been instrumental in assisting NfNSW to develop their new TMSystems Standard - BC17/18562 on Buses to mitigate Tyre and Wheel Well Fires.

LSM TyreGuard® TMSystems are a proactive technology that prevents a potential Wheel / Tyre Fire by monitoring the Tyre / Rim Temperature and warning the Operator - before a fire starts.

LSM TyreGuard® provides the latest SAE Tested  / Certified, Robust and Fit - for - Purpose TMSystem technology. This is then augmented by LSM Technologies extensive Engineering / Technical  Services , Support, Training and Education to Bus Operators, Drivers and Maintenance personnel.

The OTIS (Office of Transport Safety Investigations) has also recently released their latest investigative report Bus (Coach) Fires in NSW 2016 stating there were:

  • 37 fires with 77 thermal incidents (fires and smoke only).
  • 43% of incidents were confined to the Wheel Well and caused by locked Brakes.
  • 62% of thermal Wheel Well incidents resulted in smoke damage only, indicating that 15 x fires occurred 

LSM TyreGuard® TMSystems can also be integrated in to our FSM® Safety (Tracking) Manager Telematics to provide remote access to fleet dashboards, customisable reports, proof of compliance tools as well as real time, user defined alerts.
