Federal Endorsement for LSM Technologies BridgeSense® (TrainSense®) Safety Innovations
LSM Technologies is honoured to have received a formal letter of support from the Hon. Scott Buchholz MP, Federal Member for Wright and Former Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, in recognition of our ongoing commitment to improving road and rail safety across Australia. LSM has developed the concepts for two (2) more unique and exciting world's first Collision Awareness / Avoidance (CAAS) safety mitigation technologies.
Mr Buchholz, a long-standing advocate for transport safety and a former industry professional himself, commended the work of LSM Technologies and our Founder and Managing Director, Peter Woodford, for more than two decades of leadership in developing practical and cost-effective safety solutions tailored to the heavy vehicle, civil, mining, and equipment industries.
In particular, Mr Buchholz praised our latest innovation- BridgeSense® (and TrainSense®), pioneering in-cabin alert systems that warns drivers when approaching bridges or rail infrastructure at risk of being struck due to vehicle height.
“BridgeSense represents exactly the kind of innovation we should be encouraging- Australian-made, forward-thinking, and focused on saving lives and protecting infrastructure” said Mr Buchholz.
The support letter highlights the alarming statistics, with over 1,000 bridge strike incidents or near misses recorded in Australia in 2024 alone. Despite improvements in mapping and driver awareness campaigns such as Queensland Rail’s "Size Matters", a significant proportion of our infrastructure remains unprotected by active warning systems.
BridgeSense® / TraindSense® addresses this gap by offering a proactive, engineering-based control that reduces reliance on human memory and perception, aligning with best-practice safety frameworks.
